Court extends P. Chidambaram’s remand till 30 August
New Delhi(26/08): In the INX Media case, the CBI court on Monday extended the custody of Congress leader P. Chidambaram till 30 August.
Earlier, Chidambaram was handed over to the CBI custody for four days by the court and said that his custodial interrogation was justified. The court also asked the CBI to ensure that Chidambaram’s personal dignity is not violated in any way. Earlier, the petition filed by the Delhi High Court against the decision of cancellation of interim bail has been rejected by the apex court.
Earlier, while refusing to hear Chidambaram’s anticipatory bail plea, the Supreme Court said that a petition for bail should be filed in the appropriate court. Apart from this, the petition filed by P. Chidambaram against CBI custody has not been heard yet, as the case has not been listed yet. On Monday, P Chindabaram’s lawyer Kapil Sibal told a bench of Justice Banumati that the petition against the lower court sending Chindabaram to CBI custody was not up for hearing today along with the petitions filed against the decision for cancellation of anticipatory bail.
